Jasper - Town Devastated by Flames

In 2024, Jasper, Canada had 3 lighting strikes which created the “perfect storm” and this sweet little town watched as a fierce wildfire tore through the heart of its pristine forests and 1/3rd of its downtown turning it into smoky battlegrounds. The blaze, fueled by unusually dry conditions and strong winds, forced over 25,000 residents and tourists to evacuate, leaving behind a landscape etched with charred trees and smoldering ash. Firefighters battled around the clock, their efforts underscored by the serene beauty of the Rockies now cloaked in haze. As we drove through some of the areas that use to be destination we saw the destruction, could smell the char and sense the emptiness that this fire left behind. Despite the devastation, the community’s resilience shone through as recovery efforts began, promising that Jasper’s wild spirit would rise again from the ashes. After meeting a beautiful pup named Breeze and her local owner you could feel the positive energy exuding! For some reason we hardly heard about this fire in US which adds to the devastation of our media and how narrow minded our news sources can be.

Our campground had an abundance of elk that would pass through in the mornings… A nice wake up call!

Boomer and I celebrated our 27th anniversary today in Jasper at Pyramid Lake. My favorite mirrored image ever!

Heading out of town we passed on through Athabasca Falls for a small hike and more sensory overload! Thank you Jasper!

Boomer has a song to share! It’s on Facebook so if you don’t have an acc don’t click! … Such a Boomer!
