Montana and Glacier National Park
Going To The Sun Road
We made it to Montana and stayed with our neighbors who recently settled in Whitefish. From there, it was time to gear up for our next park—Glacier. The mountains seemed to go on forever, towering and dramatic, with views that just kept opening up around every turn. Driving the Going-to-the-Sun Road was a thrill—the steep stretches were definitely impressive, but manageable. We may have bent the rules a little with our 24-foot rig (the limit is 21 feet), but by slipping through the gate before 7 a.m. we caught a gorgeous sunrise and scored a prime parking spot for our Logan Pass hike. The Hidden Lake Trail turned out to be absolutely stunning, one of those hikes where every step feels like a postcard. Later, we camped on the Blackfeet Reservation and had the whole place to ourselves. Boondocking by the rivers, hiking Glaciers peaks and lakes, and capping it off with huckleberry pie and ice cream at the famous Huckleberry Patch made the experience unforgettable.

Ragamuffin is still with us!
We boondocked next to West Glacier Entrance and found a fantastic river to dip into! Middle Fork Flathead River is the name!
